Hello Mango Madness at Trader Joe’s!

Hello Mango Madness at Trader Joe’s!

Every October time frame, my hearts beat a little faster thanks to Trader Joe’s. During that time of year, Trader Joe’s has an incredible variety of pumpkin treats for every one to joy. I didn’t think that Trader Joe’s could make me that giddy with any other time of year until now….

Yes, Trader Joe’s has done it again! They’ve made this foodie fall in love and happily leap to their store this summer! It may not be October yet and they may not have pumpkin mania but they have the “Summer of Mango!”

Ahh mango! Mango is one of my favorite fruits. The sweet fruit is the perfect healthy dessert and one that every one should eat. Among the benefits of mango are they help clean the skin  alkalize the body and aid in weight loss. I honestly think I eat mango every day.

When I saw Trader Joe’s was having variety of special of mango treats for the summer, you bet to my local Trader Joe’s ASAP. I was not disappointed and found my Trader Joe’s indeed had mango madness all throughout the store.

Similar to pumpkin season at Trader Joe’s, the hardest thing for me that day was picking what mango treats I wanted. There was so much mango love at the store. Mango gummies! Orange peach Mango juice! Mango Babka! Mango Joe Joes! The mango selection was endless and I wanted to buy every thing haha! At the end of my trip, I did pretty good job in my mango haul!

It was the Mango Joe-Joe’s that first caught my eye and ended up being the first mango item I tried.

Trader Joe’s famous cookie wafers with cream in between has been mango-nized for this special time of year! It is all mango. The cookies are mango flavored and the cream is mango flavored. Trader Joe’s even made out of mango purée, mango powder, and natural mango flavor. Right at first bite, I could instantly taste the mango! It’s mango cookie heaven.

Next Mango-licious treat that made my heart skip a beat was the Mango Bar Bites.

Now I love lemon bars. When I spot lemon bars at a party, it’s the first dessert that get. It was therefore pure bliss when I saw Trader Joe’s Mango Bar Bites.  These Mango Bar Bites are fully baked sweet treats. The top consists of a soft and creamy sweet, tart mango puree with passion fruit and shaved coconut. The bottom is a thin, baked buttery crust. From the fruity top to the crisp crust, these Mango Bar Bites are amazing.

The sweet Mango love continued on with my next purchase. I could not help but get the Mango macarons.

I’ve always been a fan of Trader Joe’s macarons!  From Trader Joe’s Dozen Macarons Variés that features six flavors: Apricot, Coconut, Fig, Salted Caramel, Lemon, and Pistachio to their Pumpkin flavors, I am a fan. Now their latest macaron offering is the Mango macarons.

Similar to their Trader Joe’s macaron predecessors, these Mango macarons are amazing. The outside consists of crispy and chewy almond-based, meringue orange hued cookies. Inside is a vibrant, sweet filling of mango ganache.  Talk about one fabulous French confections. Ooh la la, I am in love.

I will honestly admit, I was tempted to put more mango desserts in my basket that day. The Trader Joe’s mango sorbet bon bons and mini mango pies were calling my name but I decided to be good (can’t promise for how long 😉 ) and the last mango item I purchased that day were the Mango O’s.

There’s nothing like starting off the day with a mango treat and this cereal is one that just spells cereal crush with a capital C. It’s whole grain oat cereal with the sweet taste of mango. The cereal itself has sweet-tart mango purée embedded in the O’s and then alongside them are pieces of freeze dried mango. It is one sweet and tart breakfast delight with a crispy crunch. Trader Joe’s sure knows how to start the day off right!

Soon after that mango haul, I ended up coming back for more mango treats!

I got some mango gummies!

These mango gummies come in passion fruit, yogurt and mango flavors. They’re the perfect sweet little treat.

I also got some mango mints.

These mints are sugar free yet full of mango flavor.

All of the mango-licious items that I bought have made me so happy. What can I say…I found summer love via a bit of mango madness at Trader Joe’s. O Mango, o mango, I think I love you.

Hello Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Haul!

Hello Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Haul!

It’s no secret that I have a pumpkin crush. I don’t know how exactly when or how this pumpkin love started but every time the month of October rolls around, I get all excited with the the thoughts of pumpkin-licious treats. I leave it to your imagination about how giddy I was when I spotted the “pumpkin mania” sign that was at the front of my local Trader Joe’s.

I only get this kinda happiness at one other place and that’s the Sanrio Store. (Yes, that’s how much I love pumpkin goodies. I love it almost at the same level as hello kitty!) Shocking, I know.

The hardest thing for me that day was picking what pumpkin treats I wanted. It took some discipline to not buy every pumpkin treat there was! Organic pumpkin toaster pastries! Pumpkin soup! Pumpkin biscotti! Pumpkin croutons! Ahh I am all pumpkin-in love! It was hard to choose. At the end of the trip however, I came out with a pretty nice selection of various pumpkin treats (I didn’t buy everything…*sigh* but still came out with a fair spread!)

I chose to get a some pumpkin spice granola for breakfast! It’s a breakfast of pumpkin champions with this treat filled with granola clusters, grain oats, honey, and raisins. It’s a perfect taste of fall flavor with the pumpkin spices and hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger!

To go along with the pumpkin spice granola in the morning, I also bought some pumpkin spice chai. This is Trader Joe’s take on the traditional Indian drink masala chai with a pumpkin twist. It starts off with that mixed spice tea base. The chai tea blend of honey, vanilla and black tea is then mixed with cinnamon, anise, clove, cardamom, ginger and pumpkin pie spices. It’s such a heartwarming drink with the perfect pumpkin spice taste.

I also could not resist getting the iced pumpkin scone cookies! These were too adorable and delicious looking to pass up! They are small scones that look like cookies. They are made with real pumpkin and cinnamon and nut meg spices.

Aside from the scones, I got another sweet pumpkin treat in Pumpkin Joe Joe’s. They are crispy pumpkin cookies with creamy pumpkin creme filling! These truly make my little pumpkin heart flutter with delight.

Last but not least, I could not pass up on pumpkin pie mochi ice cream! This is my pumpkin dream come true. It is all my favorites rolled in on. They’ve got the sweet and soft mochi sticky rice! They’ve got the sweet and delicious pumpkin ice cream! They’ve got the pumpkin pie perfect flavor with the pumpkin pie spices and chunks of graham cookie pieces. This pumpkin treat is my number one!

Every year I am simply full of smiles with the pumpkin treats I’ve found at Trader Joe’s! From the pumpkin macarons I’ve had in the past to the pumpkin tea, I am a fan of it all! This year once again, I am thrilled with my new pumpkin discoveries! This pumpkin love, reels me back in every single time… 😉 Pumpkin giddy, yes, I am!

Hello pumpkin squares!

Hello pumpkin squares!

Ingredients: Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Bread and Muffin Mix, Eggs, Vegetable Oil, Water

It’s no secret that I love pumpkin and it was pretty apparent in the fall postings that I had in this blog and for South Bay Foodies. Earlier, I wrote about finding pumpkin bread mix at Trader Joe’s. I was so excited to try and make something with it.

It’s very simple to make something with this pumpkin bread mix. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine the mix, eggs, water and oil in a bowl and mix until smooth. Pour into a baking pan sprayed with non-stick spray and then place in the oven for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

In 40 minutes, my kitchen was filled with the sweet aroma of fresh baked pumpkin bread. I cut the bread into little squares and tah dah…perfectly pumpkin-licious petite treats! Yay!

Hello Trader Joe’s speculoos cookies and cookie butter!

Hello Trader Joe’s speculoos cookies and cookie butter!

Hello speculoos! What are speculoos? Speculoos are crisp caramelized cinnamon spiced shortbread. They originated from Belgium and are now being offered at Trader Joe’s.

I originally did not know what Speculoos were until I had heard about cookie butter from Trader Joe’s. Trader Joe’s cookie butter is a spread made out of the crushed Speculoos biscuits. It’s Trader Joe’s number one seller and is known worldwide. Folks as far as the Philippines are on the search for this cookie butter. The Trader Joe’s cookie butter comes in a creamy and crunchy version. The creamy is the original and the crunchy is the newest version that only came out this year.

After hearing about all the hype, reading news stories and blogs about it and seeing numerous instagram photos of cookie butter from all around the world, my curiosity was peeked. I went on the search for this cookie butter and tried finding it at various Trader Joe’s all around town. I first found the speculoos cookies but the cookie butter itself was very difficult to find! Various Trader Joe’s would run out early in the morning. Because of the high demand and limited quantities, some stores would not even put it out on the shelves and instead have it in their pit area for customers to request. I luckily found the hard to get cookie butter after awhile. I was so excited that I even wrote a yelp review about it!

It was the creamy version that I found first.

I honestly did not know what to expect. I had heard so much about it that I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype. My first try of the creamy cookie butter consisted of spreading it on some warm pan de sal at breakfast. I was instantly impressed. It was like peanut butter with a sweet touch. I could taste a slight hint of gingerbread in there as well. It was definitely creamy and a very nice spread for some hot bread fresh from the oven.

I liked the creamy version so much, that I wanted to try the crunchy version of the cookie butter next. Once again, finding the cookie butter was hard. It seemed only the creamy was available. After three weeks of finding the creamy, I found the crunchy at the same Trader Joe’s. Surprisingly, all the creamy cookie butter was gone on the day that I found the crunchy. The shelf was filled with lots of crunchy but no more creamy.

Once again, I tried it first on some pan de sal. I put a generous serving of the crunchy cookie butter on my breakfast bread and tried it out. I found it very similar to the creamy and honestly expected a little more “crunch.” There were some crunchy bits of biscuit in there but not a significant amount. The creamy and crunchy version in my opinion are almost one and the same. Both have the nice sweet taste to it.

After trying it out on pan de sal, I also tried the spread on the Speculoos cookies themselves. I found this very nice. It brought out the gingerbread and sweet cinnamon flavor out even more in the cookie.

I have also tried it on granola bars as well as Rice Krispie bars. The nice thing about cookie butter is it s a nice topping for almost anything! It’s like the extra cherry on top that everyone loves. I’m thinking of trying it on bananas and waffles as well.

Speculoos cookies and cookie butter from Trader Joe’s are my new favorite “it” food! It is definitely worthy of all the hype! Do give it a try and I hope it puts a smile on your face the same way it did on mine! 🙂
