Hello Pasta Stories! 🍝

Japan has always held a special place in my heart — from its rich culture to the warmth of its people, every city feels like its own little world with a story to tell. Maybe it’s my lifelong love for all things kawaii (yes, I’m a huge Hello Kitty fan), but there’s something about Japan that never fails to make me smile.

Pasta Stories, a new spot inside Tokyo Central in Torrance, brings those stories to life through creative pasta dishes inspired by different Japanese cities.

I’ve been fortunate to visit Pasta Stories a few times now, and I’m continually impressed by how each dish captures the essence and flavor of the city it represents. Every bite takes me back to the wonderful Land of the Rising Sun.

Kyoto: Matcha Cream Pasta

Kyoto is famous for its high-quality matcha production, so this matcha-based pasta couldn’t be more fitting. It was the first dish I tried at Pasta Stories, and it completely won me over with its luxuriously creamy texture and deep umami flavor. The tender chicken and mushrooms in a green tea Alfredo sauce make it both comforting and distinctively Kyoto.

Osaka: Wagyu Beef Spaghetti

Osaka is a top destination for Wagyu lovers, and this pasta dish pays perfect tribute. Filled with tender Wagyu beef and served in a rich, savory tomato-based sauce, it’s no surprise that this is one of the most popular dishes at Pasta Stories. Every bite feels indulgent and full of bold Osaka-style flavor.

Yokohama: Napolitan Spaghetti

Here’s a fun bit of trivia: after World War II, American soldiers in Yokohama made spaghetti using ketchup — and that simple twist inspired this classic Japanese dish. Pasta Stories’ version features sautéed onions, green peppers, and sausage mixed in a sweet ketchup-based sauce. They call it “Nostalgic Napolitan Spaghetti”, and it’s easy to see why. It’s both comforting and full of history — and honestly, it’s my personal favorite on the menu.

Today is National Pasta Day, and it felt only right to share my story about Pasta Stories — my new go-to spot for Japanese pasta.

Whether it’s the creativity, the flavors, or the memories each dish evokes, this spot never fails to make me smile. 🍝✨
