With December just around the corner and days getting colder; I am finding myself definitely wanting soup for dinner more. Pho soup is perfect for those chilly days and I may have just found the best pho soup in town!
Soup Shop opened earlier this 2022 in Gardena, California. They have two other locations in Anaheim, California as well as South Gate, California. I’m definitely glad this place is now in the South Bay! Their menu consists of appetizers, fried rice, pho noodle soup, premium rice plates and beverages.
I love starting off a meal here with their tasty appetizers! I love their Crispy Egg Rolls! They are filled with crab, pork, carrot, mushrooms, taro and assorted veggies.
One can’t go here without eating pho! They make an excellent phot soup. Their pho menu is extensive and unique! Each pho has 24 hour slow cooked bone broth and is served with thin rice noodles, white and green onions and cilantro.
I love their Pho Ribeye! It has thinly sliced, tender ribeye and is so delicious!
Another favorite of mine and by others as well is ther Pho Rib Bones! This comes with two very large rib bones that have been simmered for four hours.
Soup Shop is definitely a place to visit for some fantastic egg rolls and pho! I am a fan :).
Dine LA just wrapped up this past week and I had an awesome time trying out several restaurants that participated. For this Dine LA; I chose to support three local eateries in the South Bay. In this blog post; I wanted to highlight some of my favorite plates from their Dine LA offerings.
21 Square Bar and Grill
21 Square Bar and Grill is located at the Torrance Marriott. I had first visited this restaurant for a Yelp Elite Event. I have since visited this place for different occasions and was happy to see they were participating in Dine LA this year.
Their Dine LA lunch menu was $35 and was a three course with appetizer, entree and dessert.
I really enjoyed the Adobo Braised Lamb Shank entree I got from here. The Adobo Braised Lamb shank was on top of creamy mascarpone polenta and topped with crispy shallots and cilantro. The entree was full of flavor. The lamb was tender and juicy. I loved the soft polenta. It simply melted in the mouth. I also loved the crispy shallots and how it added that crunch texture to the dish.
Nomad Eatery is a restaurant in El Segundo, California that offers a mix of Mediterranean, Southeast Asia and Latin American dishes. I had visited this restaurant before when it was Jackson’s Food and Wine but ever since they changed their concept to Nomad; I had yet to check this place out. Dine LA was the perfect time to try.
Their Dine LA lunch menu was $15 and consisted of a starter and an entree.
My favorite from this Dine LA offering was their Nomad Hummus. Their hummus had crunchy garbanzos, lemon, garlic and zhoung. It was accompanied with flatbread. The hummus was perfectly creamy and had a slight spicy zest. I loved spreading it on the flatbread. Light and flavorful; this was a great starter.
Sausal is a Mexican restaurant located in downtown El Segundo, California. I had first visited this restaurant years back and also for Dine LA. I definitely was impressed with that visit and thus was excited to check them out for Dine LA again.
Their Dine LA lunch offering was $15 and consisted of a soup, salad, a drink and a taco.
I chose to get the Beef Barbacoa tacos and really enjoyed the tender, flavorful beef. The beef had the perfect mix of dried chilies and spices. The taco was accompanied with flavorful charred tomato salsa. Putting this salsa on the taco. enhanced the flavors even more. The taco paired very well with their refreshing pineapple agua fresca.
I really enjoyed the local eateries I checked out for Dine LA. I love supporting local! The South Bay definitely has some good places and I definitely love being able to try out different cuisines right in my neighborhood! Dine LA or not; I definitely see myself checkout these restaurants for other dishes in the future.
Lunasia Dim Sum’s first location was in Alhambra, CA. They quickly became popular because of their great selection of dim sum (点心) and Cantonese entrees. Soon after the opening of their first location; they opened up locations in Pasadena, CA and Cerritos, CA. This past week they opened up their fourth location in California and it happens to be in Torrance, CA! When I heard they opened up in the South Bay; I definitely got excited. I love dim sum and was thrilled to be able to check this place out recently for their soft opening.
Their menu consists of steamed dim sum, baked and fried dim sum and various Cantonese entrees (soup, noodles, fried rice, meat dishes). They also have a good selection of hot tea. For my visit here; I chose to get a mix of dim sum and entrees.
For the dim sum; I got their Steamed Chicken Feet, Bean Curd with Broth, Sticky Rice, Rice Noodle Roll with Beef and Macao Style Egg Tarts. For the entrees; I chose to get a Minced Pork and Century Egg and Congee as well as their Chow Mein with Black Pepper Beef. I absolutely loved every thing we ordered. Everything was full of flavor. They definitely are generous with their portions too!
Bean Curd with Broth – It was first time getting this dim sum dish in a broth. At other dim sum places; I typically don’t see this with broth and so was pleasantly surprised to see the tofu in a broth. The bean curd was packed with veggies and meat. It’s a great light dim sum dish.
Sticky Rice – I love sticky rice at dim sum and here at Lunasia Dim Sum House they have a great version. They pack their sticky rice with lots of with pork, abalone and veggies. This is definitely very fulfilling.
Rice Noodle Roll with Beef – If you are a big fan or rice noodle rolls like me; Lunasia Dim Sum House is the place to go. They have several different rice noodles. Their selection includes Rice Noodle Roll with Beef, Rice Noodle Roll with BBQ Pork, Rice Noodle Roll with Shrimp, Veggie Rice Noodle Roll, Rice Noodle Roll with Chinese Donut and Crispy Shrimp Rice Noodle. I absolutely loved my selection of Rice Noodle Roll with Beef. It was wells seasoned with soy sauce and it there was lots of beef inside.
Macao Style Egg Tarts – For dim sum dessert; egg tarts are my go-to dessert. Here at Lunasia; they have a fantastic creamy egg custard inside a flaky pastry shell. It practically melts in your mouth.
Minced Pork and Century Egg and Congee – Minced Pork and Century Egg and Congee was a great congee for sharing. It was a very heartwarming and comforting broth.
Chow Mein with Black PepperBeef – The Chow Mein with Beef was definitely one of my favorites during this visit. There was plenty of crispy noodles topped with lots of sauce and beef. I love how the sauce soaks the noodles so some of it is soft, while some of it stays crispy. I also really love the the tender beef they topped it with and the variety of vegetables.
It is so awesome to see Lunasia Dim Sum House in the South Bay! With their tasty dim sum and and entrees; they are sure to be well loved by many dim sum lovers like myself.

Hello and Happy Memorial Day Hello Kitty Foodies! Memorial Day; a day that I am thankful to those who gave every thing so that we could have every thing. ❤️🤍💙.
Traditionally Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer and is celebrated with grilled food and bbq. For this Memorial Day however versus traditional bbq; I went with a bit more non-traditional via Korean BBQ. I always love food adventures and supporting local businesses and so this Memorial Day bbq celebration consisted of visiting Palsaik Korean BBQ in Torrance!
Palsaik Korean BBQ was first established in Korea in 2007. The Torrance branch opened up in 2015. Palsaik means “8 colors” in Korean. The name of the restaurant is because this place primarily specializes in pork bellies via 8 different flavors: ginseng, wine, garlic, herb, galbi, curry, miso and hot pepper. Aside from pork; they also have also have beef. The beef combo comes with Prime Brisket and Prime Ribeye or Prime Boneless Shortrib. All combos come with kimchi stew, ramen noodle, mushrooms, garlic, kimchi, bean sprout and lettuce.
Though popular for pork; I decided to try their beef combo with Prime Brisket and Prime Ribeye.
The meal here started off with the server bringing out the Kimchi stew. The Kimchi stew is cooked right at the table and among the ingredients inside are Korean sausage, pork belly and tofu. The combos also come with ramen noodles that you put inside the Kimchi stew.
This Kimchi stew is one very good stew. It has a little bit of a fiery kick to it but it is not overwhelming. It has just the right amount of spice to it. I loved the soft ramen noodles and especially loved the touch of Korean sausage. Both of these ingredients added nice texture and flavor to the soup.
The meats come shortly after the Kimchi stew. The servers at Palsaik are the ones who will do the cooking. They started off first with cooking the bean sprouts, kimchi and the Prime Brisket. The Prime Ribeye is cooked last. I really loved how the servers explained the different foods and ingredients. They were super sweet the whole time and we ended up with some great tasting food.
Both the Prime Brisket and Prime Ribeye were awesome. Their beef here is very tender and flavorful. It practically melted in my mouth. For the beefs; the Prime Ribeye was my favorite. The garlic and onion flavors added great umami flavors and I could tell how well marinated the beef was.
I loved the beef paired with white rice but I also learned how to make Ssambap or Korean lettuce wraps during this visit. The perfect Ssambap consisted of their well flavored season meat with just the right hint of their Ssamjang sauce and the bean sprouts. The Ssamjang sauce added a bit of sweet as well as spicy. It’s a must to add to the beef! The sauce enhances the beef flavors even more.
Everything from the kimchi stew to the two varieties of meat was excellent during this visit. I loved just the abundance of flavors from everything I tried and am so happy that I got to try this Korean BBQ this holiday. I can definitely say this Memorial Day meal at Palsaik was very memorable.

Just this path month an amazing new Japanese restaurant opened up at the Rolling Hills Plaza in Torrance, California. Kozo Sushi Japanese Sushi Kitchen had their grand opening on April 1, 2022. Kozo Sushi originated in Japan in 1964 as takeout sushi place and now 58 years later the popular sushi takeout spot is now in the South Bay!
Similar to their original location; Kozo Sushi Japanese Sushi Kitchen specializes in sushi. One can mix and match to create your own sushi set or you can pick your favorite from their abundant selection. At the Torrance location they have 5 different signature sushi, 6 soy rolls and 24 different signature rolls. They even have one signature roll that was made specifically for the Torrance location. The Torrance Roll can only be found in Torrance and has shrimp tempura, cucumber, salmon, spicy mayo, sweet and hot sauce tempura, salmon spicy mayo and sweet and hot sauce.
My favorite here is the Tempura California Roll. It comes with Kanikama, Avocado, Cucumber and Sesame Sauce. It has the perfect crispy texture and I simply love that crunch at first bite!
Though sushi is their speciality; there are a lot more delightful dishes that can be found at Kozo Sushi Japanese Sushi Kitchen. They’ve got appetizers (edamame, takoyaki, sashimi, gyoza dumplings, tofu nuggets, teriyaki chicken, tempura, egg rolls, karaage), bowls (Teriyaki Chicken Bowl, Beef Sukiyaki Bowl, Mix of Chicken and Beef Bowl), noodles (Shrimp Tempura Udon, Chicken Udon, Beef Sukiyaki Udon), Curry Rice (Katsu Curry, Chicken Karaage Curry) and salads (Green Salad, Seaweed Salad, Teriyaki Chicken Salad, Soft Shell Crab Salad). It is definitely an amazing menu full of yummy Japanese dishes.
Being a karaage and curry lover; I just had to check out their Chicken Karaage Curry. I was definitely pleased with this curry. The curry sauce has just the right spice. It’s not too spicy but definitely has enough of a fiery kick to delight one’s tastebuds. The curry sauce is also thick and perfect over the rice.
There is definitely plenty to choose from at Kozo Sushi Japanese Sushi Kitchen and so one of my favorite things to do is to get a 3 item customized combo. It’s the perfect way to try a variety of things. The 3 item combo comes with your choice of main items including a roll if you’d like. It also comes with white or brown rice and miso soup.
I love being able to mix and match my favorite items. My favorites include karaage chicken, tempura and the California rolls. The Karaage chicken always comes out hot and fresh from their kitchen and is so crispy. Similar to that is the tempura. I love the crunchy texture of the tempura.
58 years after their first location in Japan; Kozo Sushi Japanese Kitchen continues to introduce delicious Japanese food to many. I am definitely happy that they have their newest location in Torrance. I have tried a variety of their food and can say each time I visit I leave happy and full.

Comin’ in hot from Torrance, California! There’s a new hot chicken spot in the South Bay and it’s no other than Hanky’s Hot Chicken. Hanky’s Hot Chicken is located at Rolling Hills Plaza in Torrance and in close proximity to the ACM Theaters. It’s perfect place to dine during movie nights or when about and about shopping at the plaza.
Being a hot chicken fan; I had been eagerly awaiting the opening of Hanky’s Hot Chicken and this week they finally had their grand opening. It is family owned and operated and also co-owned by another South Bay favorite; Caps and Corks. I love the breakfast burritos and tacos at Caps and Corks and it is no surprise that I am now loving the food from Hanky’s Hot Chicken. Move over Nashville; Torrance has some amazing chicken dishes! Hanky’s Hot Chicken menu consists of a variety of delicious hot chicken delights; from breakfast burritos to chicken sandwiches to even chicken and waffles.
For my first visit here; I tried the Fried Classic Chicken Sandwich, Loaded Tots along with some Mexican Coke.
One cannot go wrong with the Fried Classic sandwich. This has fried chicken breast smothered with mayo and layered with lettuce all on a buttery brioche bun. I loved the overall crisp of the sandwich and it was perfect when smothered or dipped into Hanky’s Hot Chicken dipping sauces! There are three dipping sauces: buttermilk ranch, honey mustard and comeback sauce. Each of the sauces gave a different delicious flavor and touch to the sandwich. The honey mustard was slightly on the sweet side. The ranch was a simple yet yummy classic sauce. The comeback sauce (my personal favorite) has a slight spicy kick!
The Loaded Tots with tenders, mac and cheese, cole slaw, green onion and drizzled with cheese sauce and comeback sauce made for a perfect pair with the Fried Classic sandwich. These tots are ooey, gooey, messy and oh so delicious! Get some napkins because you’ll need it. It’s such drool worthy large portion of food! It’s perfect for sharing. These were definitely on the top of my favorites here. I love how there is just a variety of food all packed into one dish. The chicken tenders in it give diners a good taste of the yummy chicken. The mac and cheese in this dish is cheesy and rich. The coleslaw has the perfect mayo mix. I love how everything comes together and just gives that oomph of flavor!
Aside from great food; they’ve got a variety of refreshing drinks from lemonades to bottles and cans. I had a Mexican coke with my meal and it perfectly paired with the sandwich. At the end; I also got to enjoy a sweet treat via the Strawberry milkshake! It was the perfect way to end a meal here.
They say “Life is like a box of tenders”……well life at Hanky’s Hot Chicken sure is great!
The food here is so “cluckin hot!”

It’s National Croissant Day today and in honor of today; I’d like to share about my quest to find the best in the croissants in the South Bay! I confess I have a croissant crush! I love the buttery, flaky crust of croissants and luckily the South Bay has some of the most delicious croissants. In this blog; you’ll find some of my favorite places to indulge in croissants.
When in Redondo Beach, California; one must check out Redondough. Walking into this place; one will be instantly greeted with the fresh smell of croissants and donuts! They’re famous for their churro donuts but their croissants are also quite fabulous. My favorite croissants from here are the pineapple croissants and the regular croissants.
I love getting breakfast at Torrance Bakery. Their croissants partnered with a coffee from their coffee bar make for the best and most relaxing mornings! Their plain croissants are huge and so delightful!
85C Bakery Cafe
Fresh bread!! Fresh croissants and more can be found at the local 85C Bakery Cafe. My favorite from here is their chocolate croissant. I love the touch of dark chocolate.
Calf and Chick
Calf and Chick is a cute eatery in Torrance, California. They have fresh baked goods, omelets, crepes, sandwiches and coffee. Their croissants are huge and well worth the value. At only $2.99; their croissants are the best deal! I love the chocolate croissants here.
Hiccups Gardena introduced a new barista concept to their cafe last year. As a part of this concept; they added banh mi style pressed croissants. I absolutely love these croissants. My favorite is with cha or Vietnamese sausage. You can also get it with egg or American sausage.
There’s a sweet spot in Redondo Beach, California and they offer some sweet and tasty French pastries. This place is no other than Sweet Wheat. They’ve got a variety of croissants and it’s definitely hard to pick which to get as they are all delicious! I like the chocolate croissant with almonds.
French croissant bliss can also be found at Eclair Cafe in Torrance, California. They have eclairs, macrons and croissants! I love the chocolate croissants here too.
Offset Coffee is my favorite coffee spot in all of the South Bay! They’ve got two locations; Torrance and El Segundo. Aside from having the best hazelnut latte; they’ve also got the best strawberry croissant! Their pastries are sourced locally from FarmShop and Bakers Kneaded.
Croissant crush in full swing! The places above are my favorite spots to enjoy the buttery, flaky bread. I’d love to hear about other places that offer delicious croissants and so if you have any recommendations so let this Hello Kitty Foodie know 😀.
2021 is about to wrap up and it was truly another quite unique year. With another year of the pandemic; restaurants needed our support more than ever. Looking back through this year; I’m happy to see several new spots open up and thrive this 2021! In this blog post; I share some of my new favorites in the South Bay.
The Standing Room is a classic favorite in the South Bay. The original location located in a Redondo Beach liquor store continues to be a hot spot for locals and tourists alike. It was nice to see in the second year of the pandemic; The Standing Room opened up another location in Torrance, California. After closing down the one in Hermosa Beach; the Torrance location is a good sign that one can surpass difficulties that this pandemic has brought and succeed. The Torrance location is now 11 months strong and serving up many delicious eats such as their huge and tasty Napoleon burger.
Raising Canes was another spot that showed they can rise up through the challenge of Covid! They opened up two locations in the South Bay this year; the first being the one in Torrance, California. The second is in Gardena, California. Now South Bayers can have fill and more of their crispy chicken tenders and Cane sauce. Yum!
Torrance definitely had an abundance good new eats this year! Two Hands Torrance opened up at the Torrance Crossroads this 2021 and I for one will never look at corn dogs the same way again! This place has the best Seoul Fresh Corn Dogs! Made fresh to order; one can enjoy corn dogs topped with unique toppings like rice puffs and Hot Cheetos powder. It’s different and delicious. 😋
Another amazing Korean spot that opened up this year was Maru Kitchen. This place has some great bulgogi dishes. Their chicken bulgogi is a must try. Tender, moist and oh so tasty; it truly is a treat.
If one speaks of Korean food; one can’t forget soon tofu! I was thrilled to see Gaya Korean Tofu and Grill open up this year. They are my new favorite when it comes to Soon Tofu in the South Bay. The dumplings and beef is a heartwarming soup that is perfect for any soon tofu fan.
Torrance was definitely popping with the boba places this year! (Popping 🤪 and boba…get it?) All jokes aside; this boba fan simply loved all the new spots opening up. Presotea is another new go/to place for me.
With teas made out of fresh tea leaves; their drinks are natural and flavorful!
I love supporting small businesses yes, I do. Yes, I do! If that tune sounds familiar; then it’s because it’s quite similar to the I love Sprinkles song that you’ll hear when you get a Sprinkles cupcake from their atm. I used to only dream about trying out their cupcake atm machine but with the new Sprinkles atm at Del Amo Fashion center; it became a reality! Sweet dreams do come true!
It’s not easy for new businesses to open up during a pandemic but the above places did and succeeded! I’m happy to see that and even happier to show my support. Please do check out the places above and show them some love too! Thank you for reading and as always thanks for the support of my blog. Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2022!
I love boba and I’m thrilled to see a new boba spot open up in Torrance, California. Now open at Village Del Amo is the newest Presotea. Presotea Torrance is celebrating their grand opening today; November 14, 2021 and the first 100 people can get free boba!
Presotea first started in 2006 and now has several locations around Southern California. What makes their tea so good is how each drink is freshly made using high temp to extract the tea leaves. The freshness of the drink really comes out.
They have an extensive menu that includes milk teas, fresh teas, fruit teas, coffee, blended drinks and brown sugar drinks. One can get topping of black pearl, grass jelly, lychee coconut jelly, pudding, panda pearl, aloe vera, crystal boba, sea cream, creme brûlée and organic fresh cream.
From the milk teas; my two favorites include the Thai Pearl Milk Tea and the Panda Milk Tea.
The Thai Pearl Milk Tea is just like a traditional Thai Tea drink. One can really taste the fresh tea leaves in this one. It’s very refreshing and flavorful.
The Panda Pearl Milk Tea is a unique and awesome boba drink, It’s called Panda because it has black and white boba. The black and white is just like a panda. Double the boba and double the fun.
From their brown sugar drinks; my favorite is the Brown Sugar Creme Brûlée. It’s sweet dessert in drink form. I love Creme brûlée and love how this drink has that perfect rich custard flavor.
Presotea is a definite must try and today and tomorrow are the perfect days to check out Presotea! For their grand opening today; the first 100 people will get a free drink! After 100 people today; it will then be buy 1, get 1 drinks for the rest of the day and tomorrow. Smile and enjoy Hello Kitty Foodies!
For more smiles; please check out my Yelp review on Presotea Torrance!
I am so excited for latest addition to the Del Amo Fashion Center. Sprinkles Cupcakes! The popular Beverly Hills cupcakes that started the cupcake haute craze is now in the South Bay via a cupcake ATM.
The very first Sprinkles ATM was introduced in 2012 and located next to a Sprinkles Bakery. It was in 2016 at the University of Southern California campus that the first standalone ATM was introduced. Since then there have been several ATM locations around So-Cal. The latest is now at Del Amo Fashion Center.
Each cupcake is baked fresh daily and placed in an individual box which is placed inside the ATM. The ATM can hold up to 600 cupcakes.
Cupcakes are $5.50 each and the current flavors available at Del Amo Fashion Center include Black and White, Dark Chocolate, Red Velvet, Sprinkles, Strawberry and Vanilla. You can also get a 4 pack variety for $22. Cupcakes are baked fresh and replenished daily.
