Hello dineLA at Copper Pot Indian Grill and Cafe!

Hello dineLA at Copper Pot Indian Grill and Cafe!

Indian cuisine is definitely one of my favorite types of cuisines in the world. I am always on the lookout for a good place for some Indian food and just this past week I discovered a new Indian food in Redondo Beach; thanks to dineLA! Copper Pot Indian Grill and Cafe just opened this past 2021 and has a variety of different dishes and drinks from North and South India. The dineLA offering that they had this past week allowed me to try several different things from the menu.

Their dineLA offering consisted of getting soup, bread, entree and a drink.

For the soup; I tried the Mulligatawny Soup while my mom tried the Crab Laksa. It was my first time ever to try Mulligatawny soup and I instantly became a fan of this soup. It has a bit of curry along with coconut flavoring and then is topped off with fried shallots. I loved the overall creaminess of this soup.

I also got to try a little bit of the Crab Laksa. It’s a Anglo-Indian lentil broth, served with a dollop of yogurt. This one is similar to the Mulligatawny soup in terms of creaminess. I thought it also had a slight coconut flavor. The main difference is the touch of crab. It definitely has that seafood after taste.

Accompanying our soup and entrees were Garlic Naan and Butter Naan bread. Copper Pot serves their breads fresh from the oven and piping hot! It’s perfect for dipping.

For our entrees; we got the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Andhra Chicken Curry. The Chicken Tikka Masala at Copper Pot is excellent. I loved how the dish was filled with a lot boneless marinated chicken pieces in buttery, creamy sauce. It was so perfect with basmati rice as well as the naan bread. I loved the mild and nutty flavor of their Chicken Tikka Masala.

The Andhra Chicken Curry had a bit more fiery and spicy kick to it. If you like spice; this dish is for you. This curry is a bit different as it has  special blend masala from Andhra region of India. The freshly roasted spices blended with the chicken produced quite a unique taste in this curry.

I also got to enjoyed Mango Lassi here and it was one sweet and tasty drink!

I am definitely happy to have another great place for Indian food in the South Bay! स्वादिष्ट!

Hello Hanky’s Hot Chicken!

Hello Hanky’s Hot Chicken!

Comin’ in hot from Torrance, California! There’s a new hot chicken spot in the South Bay and it’s no other than Hanky’s Hot Chicken. Hanky’s Hot Chicken is located at Rolling Hills Plaza in Torrance and in close proximity to the ACM Theaters. It’s perfect place to dine during movie nights or when about and about shopping at the plaza.

Being a hot chicken fan; I had been eagerly awaiting the opening of Hanky’s Hot Chicken and this week they finally had their grand opening. It is family owned and operated and also co-owned by another South Bay favorite; Caps and Corks. I love the breakfast burritos and tacos at Caps and Corks and it is no surprise that I am now loving the food from Hanky’s Hot Chicken. Move over Nashville; Torrance has some amazing chicken dishes! Hanky’s Hot Chicken menu consists of a variety of delicious hot chicken delights; from breakfast burritos to chicken sandwiches to even chicken and waffles.

For my first visit here; I tried the Fried Classic Chicken Sandwich, Loaded Tots along with some Mexican Coke.

One cannot go wrong with the Fried Classic sandwich. This has fried chicken breast smothered with mayo and layered with lettuce all on a buttery brioche bun. I loved the overall crisp of the sandwich and it was perfect when smothered or dipped into Hanky’s Hot Chicken dipping sauces! There are three dipping sauces: buttermilk ranch, honey mustard and comeback sauce. Each of the sauces gave a different delicious flavor and touch to the sandwich. The honey mustard was slightly on the sweet side. The ranch was a simple yet yummy classic sauce. The comeback sauce (my personal favorite) has a slight spicy kick!

The Loaded Tots with tenders, mac and cheese, cole slaw, green onion and drizzled with cheese sauce and comeback sauce made for a perfect pair with the Fried Classic sandwich. These tots are ooey, gooey, messy and oh so delicious! Get some napkins because you’ll need it. It’s such drool worthy large portion of food! It’s perfect for sharing. These were definitely on the top of my favorites here. I love how there is just a variety of food all packed into one dish. The chicken tenders in it give diners a good taste of the yummy chicken. The mac and cheese in this dish is cheesy and rich. The coleslaw has the perfect mayo mix. I love how everything comes together and just gives that oomph of flavor!

Aside from great food; they’ve got a variety of refreshing drinks from lemonades to bottles and cans. I had a Mexican coke with my meal and it perfectly paired with the sandwich. At the end; I also got to enjoy a sweet treat via the Strawberry milkshake! It was the perfect way to end a meal here.

They say “Life is like a box of tenders”……well life at Hanky’s Hot Chicken sure is great!

The food here is so “cluckin hot!”

Hello Birthday Celebration at Eddie V’s!

Hello Birthday Celebration at Eddie V’s!

My boyfriend recently celebrated his birthday and we had a wonderful dinner at Eddie V’s in El Segundo, California. Eddie V’s had opened up their South Bay location in middle of 2021 and it truly was so nice to finally dine at this special place for a very special occasion.

The evening started off in a festive and happy way. When we got to our reserved table; the table was beautifully decorated with sparkly and colorful Happy Birthday confetti. There was also a Happy Birthday card given by the restaurant in the center.

Soon after; we were off to indulge in some delicious birthday food! First up; was a starter salad. My boyfriend loves salads and we truly were in for a treat with Eddie V’s Warm Goat Cheese Salad.

The Warm Goat Cheese Salad is definitely on the top of my lists of best salads we’ve had. This salad consisted of arugula, roasted wild mushrooms and drizzled with cider vinaigrette dressing. I love mushrooms and the wild mushrooms in this salad gave an additional nice flavor and texture to the arugula. I also loved the goat cheese and the creamy flavors.

Eddie V’s is primarily known for seafood and my boyfriend who loves salmon; chose to get the Norwegian Salmon for his entree. Aside from seafood however; they also have some premium hand cut steaks. For my entree I got the Center Cut Filet Mignon topped with parmesan and horseradish crust. We decide to get the sides of Truffled Macaroni and Cheese and Crispy Brussels Sprouts to accompany our entrees.

My entree was quite the treat. Getting the additional parmesan and horseradish crust on top of my filet mignon was the perfect touch. I absolutely loved the enhanced flavors it gave me the filet mignon. The sides we got also paired very well with the entree. There was plenty of truffles on top of the creamy and rich Macaroni and Cheese. The Crispy Brussels Sprouts had a Korean glaze along with some peanuts. It was sweet and spicy. I loved how the Asian flavors gave such a unique touch to this side.

The salad and the entrees were wonderful but no birthday wouldn’t be complete without dessert. Eddie V’s gave a wonderful birthday surprise with a complimentary Bananas Foster Butter Cake.

This dessert was flambéed tableside and was a treat to see. Who doesn’t like a little bit of a fiery touch? This gave a whole new meaning to birthday candles.

I can’t even say what my favorite part of this dessert was because every part of it was amazing! I loved the way it was presented snf I absolutely loved every tasty component of the dessert! I Along side the butter cake was some dark chocolate cookies along with a fruit ice cream. I may just be drooling thinking about how good this dessert was. The butter cake was so soft and the bananas foster had just the right sugar and cinnamon taste to it. Birthday cakes will never be the same after this dessert.

A night at Eddie V’s was truly a night to remember and I highly recommend this place to anyone celebrating a special occasion.

It’s National Croissant Day today and in honor of today; I’d like to share about my quest to find the best in the croissants in the South Bay! I confess I have a croissant crush! I love the buttery, flaky crust of croissants and luckily the South Bay has some of the most delicious croissants. In this blog; you’ll find some of my favorite places to indulge in croissants.

85C Bakery Cafe

Fresh bread!! Fresh croissants and more can be found at the local 85C Bakery Cafe. My favorite from here is their chocolate croissant. I love the touch of dark chocolate.

Calf and Chick

Calf and Chick is a cute eatery in Torrance, California. They have fresh baked goods, omelets, crepes, sandwiches and coffee. Their croissants are huge and well worth the value. At only $2.99; their croissants are the best deal! I love the chocolate croissants here.

Hiccups Barista

Hiccups Gardena introduced a new barista concept to their cafe last year. As a part of this concept; they added banh mi style pressed croissants. I absolutely love these croissants. My favorite is with cha or Vietnamese sausage. You can also get it with egg or American sausage.

Sweet Wheat

There’s a sweet spot in Redondo Beach, California and they offer some sweet and tasty French pastries. This place is no other than Sweet Wheat. They’ve got a variety of croissants and it’s definitely hard to pick which to get as they are all delicious! I like the chocolate croissant with almonds.

Eclair Cafe

French croissant bliss can also be found at Eclair Cafe in Torrance, California. They have eclairs, macrons and croissants! I love the chocolate croissants here too.

Offset Coffee

Offset Coffee is my favorite coffee spot in all of the South Bay! They’ve got two locations; Torrance and El Segundo. Aside from having the best hazelnut latte; they’ve also got the best strawberry croissant! Their pastries are sourced locally from FarmShop and Bakers Kneaded.

Croissant crush in full swing! The places above are my favorite spots to enjoy the buttery, flaky bread. I’d love to hear about other places that offer delicious croissants and so if you have any recommendations so let this Hello Kitty Foodie know 😀.

Hello Kitty Foodie Year in Review 2021!

Hello Kitty Foodie Year in Review 2021!

2021 is about to wrap up and it was truly another quite unique year. With another year of the pandemic; restaurants needed our support more than ever. Looking back through this year; I’m happy to see several new spots open up and thrive this 2021! In this blog post; I share some of my new favorites in the South Bay.

The Standing Room Torrance

The Standing Room is a classic favorite in the South Bay. The original location located in a Redondo Beach liquor store continues to be a hot spot for locals and tourists alike. It was nice to see in the second year of the pandemic; The Standing Room opened up another location in Torrance, California. After closing down the one in Hermosa Beach; the Torrance location is a good sign that one can surpass difficulties that this pandemic has brought and succeed. The Torrance location is now 11 months strong and serving up many delicious eats such as their huge and tasty Napoleon burger.

You must come here hungry 😁.

Raising Canes Torrance

Raising Canes was another spot that showed they can rise up through the challenge of Covid! They opened up two locations in the South Bay this year; the first being the one in Torrance, California. The second is in Gardena, California. Now South Bayers can have fill and more of their crispy chicken tenders and Cane sauce. Yum!

Two Hands Torrance

Torrance definitely had an abundance good new eats this year! Two Hands Torrance opened up at the Torrance Crossroads this 2021 and I for one will never look at corn dogs the same way again! This place has the best Seoul Fresh Corn Dogs! Made fresh to order; one can enjoy corn dogs topped with unique toppings like rice puffs and Hot Cheetos powder. It’s different and delicious. 😋

Maru Kitchen

Another amazing Korean spot that opened up this year was Maru Kitchen. This place has some great bulgogi dishes. Their chicken bulgogi is a must try. Tender, moist and oh so tasty; it truly is a treat.

Gaya Korean Tofu and Grill Torrance

If one speaks of Korean food; one can’t forget soon tofu! I was thrilled to see Gaya Korean Tofu and Grill open up this year. They are my new favorite when it comes to Soon Tofu in the South Bay. The dumplings and beef is a heartwarming soup that is perfect for any soon tofu fan.

Prima Cafe

Speaking of favorites; many know I love boba! Prima Cafe that opened up in Lomita has some of the best boba in town. Their drinks also has a special nod to the South Bay via their names.

Presotea Torrance

Torrance was definitely popping with the boba places this year! (Popping 🤪 and boba…get it?) All jokes aside; this boba fan simply loved all the new spots opening up. Presotea is another new go/to place for me.

With teas made out of fresh tea leaves; their drinks are natural and flavorful!

Sprinkles Del Amo

I love supporting small businesses yes, I do. Yes, I do! If that tune sounds familiar; then it’s because it’s quite similar to the I love Sprinkles song that you’ll hear when you get a Sprinkles cupcake from their atm. I used to only dream about trying out their cupcake atm machine but with the new Sprinkles atm at Del Amo Fashion center; it became a reality! Sweet dreams do come true!

It’s not easy for new businesses to open up during a pandemic but the above places did and succeeded! I’m happy to see that and even happier to show my support. Please do check out the places above and show them some love too! Thank you for reading and as always thanks for the support of my blog. Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2022!

Hello Sprinkles ATM Del Amo!

Hello Sprinkles ATM Del Amo!

“I love Sprinkles…Yes I do! Yes I do!!”

I am so excited for latest addition to the Del Amo Fashion Center. Sprinkles Cupcakes! The popular Beverly Hills cupcakes that started the cupcake haute craze is now in the South Bay via a cupcake ATM.

The very first Sprinkles ATM was introduced in 2012 and located next to a Sprinkles Bakery. It was in 2016 at the University of Southern California campus that the first standalone ATM was introduced. Since then there have been several ATM locations around So-Cal. The latest is now at Del Amo Fashion Center.

Each cupcake is baked fresh daily and placed in an individual box which is placed inside the ATM. The ATM can hold up to 600 cupcakes.

Cupcakes are $5.50 each and the current flavors available at Del Amo Fashion Center include Black and White, Dark Chocolate, Red Velvet, Sprinkles, Strawberry and Vanilla. You can also get a 4 pack variety for $22. Cupcakes are baked fresh and replenished daily.

Once one purchases a cupcake; the happy Sprinkles song plays! It’sn catchy and you soon will find yourself singing along! Soon enough your cupcake of choice will be dispensed! Happy songs and sweet cupcakes! Win win!

The newest Sprinkles ATM machine is located at Del Amo Fashion Center’s food court right by Blaze Pizza. I love Sprinkles! Yes; I do! Yes; I do!!

Hello and Help Save Nanas!

Hello and Help Save Nanas!

NANAS was started as a dream by owners Jonathan Anzaldi and his husband George. It was in January this year that they opened NANAS out of a commercial kitchen in Redondo Beach. The name is a tribute to their grandmothers and the concept of the restaurant brings their two cultures together; Mexican and Italian. The eatery is a celebration of their love and Jonathan and George’s goal is to share their love and their traditional family recipes.

I got to visit NANAS as part of a Yelp Elite perk back in June and definitely felt the love in the cooking. I got their Turkey Meatballs along with their Lemon Parsley Pasta. Their meatballs were amazing. The sauce was rich and flavorful and the meatballs were so tender. I have no doubt that these are the best meatballs in the South Bay! The Lemon Parsley Pasta also was nice light treat.

I was making plans to visit NANAS soon again when George recently wrote me a note about some of the recent struggles of the restaurant. The return to normal has directly impacted many small and local, takeout and delivery concepts, including NANAS and they are struggling to make ends meet currently.

It makes me sad to think this small restaurant is on the verge of closing and want to help save this small and lovely eatery. They currently have a Go Fund Me page and would like to share with all of my readers: Go Fund Me Page to Help Save Nanas

Please consider donating to their Go Fund and help save NANAs. This is an amazing small business run by an amazing couple. Please help this save this small business. Every dollar whether big or small will help :).

Hello Two Hands Torrance!

Hello Two Hands Torrance!

A new restaurant has opened up at the Torrance Crossroads plaza in Torrance, California. Joining the string of eateries there is Two Hands. Two Hands is a restaurant offering Seoul Fresh Corn Dogs!

Corn Dogs are a staple of American good eats but did you they are also a popular street food in Korea? Korean corn dogs are usually made from sausage or mozzarella cheese. Here at Two Hands; you have your choice of either sausage, mozzarella or even half and half. There is also half mozzarella and half cheddar or spicy sausage.

They currently have six corn dogs to choose from on the menu. The offerings are:

Two Hands Dog has their signature ranch sauce. I really love ranch and so if you’re a fan of ranch like me; this one is the corn dog for you.

Spicy Dog which has a combo of their spicy sauce and hot Cheetos powder. Fiery lovers will be a fan of the kick that this has.

Potato Dog which has potato cubes wrapped around a corn dog and then topped with their signature dirty sauce. This one is my personal favorite! I love the crispy potato. The dirty sauce that is smothered all over is also the best! It is such a creamy and delightful sauce. I even found myself asking for extra sauce.

Crispy Rice Dog has crispy rice puffs all around. This is another one that I really like! I love the extra crunch! One can get it plain or with ketchup, mustard or sugar. I personally like to get it plain as I like the simple rice puffs and batter flavor of the corn dog.

Injeolmi Dog has bean powder and their sweet sauce. This one is a bit more unique and one for those who want something a bit different.

Classic Dog has a sweet and savory taste. This is the classic Korean style corn dog. It’s great for those who want to try something simple for the first time.

If you can’t decide between all of the above; Two Hands has a great Mega Box that allows you to try the variety!

Each of Two Hands corn dogs are made fresh upon order and so everyone is guaranteed to get something hot and delicious!

Two Hands is one of my new favorite places in Torrance. I love the fresh and tasty corn dogs! The crispy outer and the tender dogs inside make for a perfect treat!

Hello Aloha Pizza and Shave Ice Company!

Hello Aloha Pizza and Shave Ice Company!

Back in 2013; I attended the soft opening of Aloha Pizza and Shave Ice Company in Gardena, California. Ever since then I’ve been loving their onolicious Hawaiian offerings. I’m not alone in my love of their pizza because this place has 808 Yelp reviews and counting for Yelp LA! Wow 808! That is definitely some aloha love there.

Their Aloha’s Signature Pies are made fresh upon ordering and they each have a bit of Hawaiian flare. One can find Portuguese sausage, garlic chicken or even Loco Moco gravy on their pizza. Their pizza can come on a thin crust or original crust.

My favorite is Uncle’s Kalua Pie. This onolicious pizza has bbq sauce, Kalua pork, red onion, fresh cilantro and fresh mango! It’s love at first bite for me with anything that has mango! This pizza is the perfect combo of sweet and savory.

If I’m looking for something with a bit of spice; then it’s the Da’ Pele! The Goddess of Fire would sure be a fan of this fiery pie. It has pepperoni, Aloha’s Portuguese sausage, bacon, pineapple and jalapeños. Their Portuguese sausage is their own signature version and it’s amazing.

Since one can order half and half with any pie; a half and half order is perfect for when you want to mix it up a bit.

Aside from pizza; Aloha’s Pizza and Shave Ice Company has a variety of different ono pupus (appetizers) as well. They have Cheesy Bread, Hot Wings, Pineapple Ribs and North Shore inspired Garlic Shrimp.

For the Wings they’ve got 3 different types. They’ve got Volcano Wings for those who want a slight fiery flare. This has a mild spicy sauce. They’ve got Kilauea Wings for those who want even more spice. These wings are made with a very spicy sauce imported straight from Hawaii. Last but not least is my favorite 808 Wings; which is made in a Korean-inpsired sauce of fresh garlic, scallions, chili sauce, Shoyu, sesame seeds and some of their own signature secret spices. Ono, with a capital “O!”

Aloha’s Pizza and Shave Ice Company’s North Shore inspired Garlic Shrimp takes inspiration from no other than Oahu’s famous Giovanni’s Shrimp Truck! Yes! They bring their version of garlic shrimp right into the South Bay hale and so no need to go all the way to Kahuku! We’ve got our own South Bay version of Giovanni’s now! Yay for some 808 in the 310. The garlic shrimp is perfect with a side of steamed rice.

One should also save room for dessert when coming here. I always look forward to a bit of sweet treats after a meal. They’ve got Hawaiian Shave Ice and Bubbies Gourmet Mochi Ice Cream. Their Hawaiian Shave Ice is made with syrups from Hawaii, has ice cream in the middle and can be topped with mochi, fresh fruit, condensed milk and my all time favorite; boba! I was so excited to see them offer boba as a topping for their shave ice. I’ve tried the milk tea and the thai tea shave ice and they’re so ono. I love how it has that ice cream in the middle that is the perfect surprise. I also love the soft and chewy boba toppings. Shave ice with ice cream and boba is the best deconstructed boba drink!

Hele on over to Aloha Pizza and Shave Ice Company for some ono food! They treat everyone like their own ohana here too! The aloha spirit is reflected in both their food and service and that’s why I am such a fan. Mahalo Aloha Pizza and Shave Ice Company! A hui hou Aloha Pizza and Shave Ice Company.

For more smiles; please see my Yelp review on Aloha Pizza and Shave Ice Company.
