Back in 2019, I first discovered Mix Mix Kitchen and Bar in Santa Ana , and it quickly became one of those restaurants that stuck with me. Since then, I’ve also had the chance to try Terrace by Mix Mix in Costa Mesa, so I’ve been following the Mix Mix family for quite a few years now.

That’s why I was especially excited to hear about their newest concept, Mixed Burgers and Bowls, now open at Long Beach Exchange.

I stopped by recently to check it out, and it was fun getting to experience a more casual take on the Mix Mix style of food. The menu has burgers, bowls, noodles, brunch, and drinks, but there are still plenty of Filipino-inspired flavors throughout.

For my visit, I tried their Filipino Brunch, which came loaded with pork cheek adobo, longanisa, shrimp lumpia, garlic fried rice, a fried egg, crispy shallots, and chimichurri.

There was so much to love on this plate. The pork cheek adobo was incredibly tender with that tangy, savory flavor I always enjoy in adobo. The longanisa was juicy with the perfect sweet-and-savory balance, while the shrimp lumpia had a delicious crispy exterior. I especially loved the garlic fried rice, which was fragrant and buttery with little crispy bits of garlic throughout.

It reminded me a little of flavors I’ve had at Terrace by Mix Mix before, which was a fun connection to my previous visits.

I also tried the Mushroom Garlic Noodles, and these were such a comforting dish. The noodles were silky and coated in a rich truffle-soy sauce, with toasted sesame and shaved parmesan adding even more savory, nutty flavor. Definitely a dish I’d order again.

And last but not least, halo halo.

It was a particularly warm day in Long Beach, so the cold, creamy dessert was the perfect finish. It came with ube and mango ice cream on top, along with swirls of ube halaya throughout. The personal size was just right, especially after such a filling meal.

It’s always exciting when a restaurant group you already enjoy comes out with something new, and I loved seeing how Mixed Burgers and Bowls takes some of those familiar Filipino flavors and brings them into a more relaxed, casual setting.

From discovering Mix Mix Kitchen back in 2019 to now trying their newest concept in Long Beach, it’s been fun watching the Mix Mix family grow — and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
