Hello Atta Girl Hermosa Beach!

Being a longtime fan of Chef David LeFevre’s restaurants—Manhattan Beach Post, RYLA, and The Arthur J, I was thrilled to hear about Atta Girl, his newest venture in the South Bay, co-owned by the rising chef Alice Mai. The perfect opportunity to visit came during a special birthday celebration, and I knew this would be a night to remember.

We started our meal with the Spiced Whipped Feta and house-baked pita. The pita arrived warm and fluffy, perfect for scooping up the whipped feta. The spread itself was luxuriously creamy, with a gentle smokiness from Calabrian chiles and a bright, tangy balance from pickled sweet peppers. It was an irresistible way to kick off the evening.

Next up was the Spiced Lamb Meatballs, served over creamy herbed semolina with a harissa-piquillo tomato sauce and topped with parmesan. Each meatball was tender and full of flavor, while the sauce added a vibrant, savory warmth. The dish was hearty without being heavy, and the combination of textures and flavors made it a standout mezze plate.

Even after these flavorful starters, we couldn’t resist trying a skewer. The Snake River Farms American Wagyu Zabuton was served alongside quinoa tabbouleh and two sauces: spicy herb zhoug and tarragon mustard. The Wagyu itself was sumptuously tender and buttery, with deep umami richness.

We paired the Wagyu with a side of Brussels sprouts, and I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion. The sprouts were crispy and caramelized, drizzled with brown butter, fennel vinaigrette, and parmesan, and rested atop a smooth date purée. Their sweet-savory balance complemented the Wagyu beautifully, making this side feel both indulgent and thoughtful.

For drinks, I chose the Rosso di Salvia, one of Atta Girl’s signature cocktails, while my date opted for the Tyler Estate Pinot Noir. The Rosso di Salvi was a spritz with prosecco, sage-infused Campari, sage vodka, tangerine, and Italicus liqueur. It was herbaceous and refreshing, with a delicate licorice note that paired wonderfully with the Mediterranean-inspired dishes.

Overall, Atta Girl is another fantastic addition to Chef LeFevre’s South Bay empire. The dishes are thoughtfully crafted, full of flavor, and shareable, with a lively atmosphere that makes it perfect for a celebration. Between the inventive small plates, decadent mains, and creative cocktails, this is a spot I will absolutely return to. I’m thrilled to add it to my list of LeFevre favorites.
