Starbird Chicken sure has come a long way in the South Bay since I first discovered them back in 2022 during a Yelp Elite experience at their ghost kitchen in Hawthorne, California. That initial visit definitely made an impression — crispy chicken, bold flavors, and a fresh take on fast-casual fried chicken. Not long after, they opened their first official South Bay location in Hermosa Beach, and now they’ve brought the flavor to Torrance with their second South Bay restaurant!

The new Torrance location has taken over the old Spires spot and completely transformed it into a bright, modern, and inviting space. It’s a cozy setup with a clean design, friendly staff, and the option to order either at the counter or through a self-service kiosk.

Starbird’s sandwiches are what initially won me over. They don’t mess around when it comes to flavor or texture. The chicken is always perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served on soft buttery buns. Whether it’s the classic Starbird sandwich with house slaw and aioli or one of their rotating seasonal specials, every bite delivers serious satisfaction. I paired my sandwich with their famous Truffle Fries, which are crispy, aromatic, and topped with just the right hit of parmesan and truffle oil.

I also tried a duo of wings — Garlic Parmesan and Lemon Pepper — and they were just as delicious. The wings came out hot and fresh, with a perfect golden crisp on the outside and tender meat inside. The Garlic Parmesan had a savory, cheesy coating that hit all the right notes, while the Lemon Pepper offered a zesty contrast.

I’m so happy to see Starbird continuing to grow in the South Bay. With Hermosa Beach and now Torrance on the map, getting your hands on their “positively delicious chicken” is easier than ever. This South Bay girl is so happy!
