Hello Kitty Cafe Ikebukuro!

Ikebukuro was one of the first places I visited during my Japan trip. The 2 story Sanrio store in the town was one of my favorite Sanrio stops 😍. Just recently I got a sweet note all the way from Japan to check out the newly opened Hello Kitty Cafe in Ikebukuro!

This new Hello Kitty cafe opened up on April 25th 2019 and is located in the 8th floor of Dining Park Ikebukuro, Tokyo. It opened up this year in honor of Hello Kitty’s 45th anniversary and will only be open for a limited time!

The cafe has an abundance of Hello Kitty tasty treats for any Hello Kitty Foodie. In this blog post, I share some of the kawaii offerings.

One of the surprising things I learned about Tokyo is that they are a hub for good tacosx Who would’ve known? Hello Kitty however knows of this fact and there is a great taco plate offered here at the Hello Kitty Cafe in Ikebukuro. The Hello Kitty taco rice plate is offered at $14 and has taco-flavored ground beef, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato and salsa. The cup of rice has Hello Kitty peeking from it. This is almost too cute to eat ;).

The savory goodness doesn’t end with the taco plate however. There is also a delicious Hello Kitty tomato cream pasta. Also offered at $14; this pasta dish comes with plate of ribbon pasta in cream cheese sauce along with Hello Kitty shaped bread on top of the pasta. The plate comes with mushroom consommé soup and mashed potato salad. The mashed potatoes are shaped like Hello Kitty’s favorite fruit; apple.  The mashed potatoes  are colored with beets and pressed into a ball to make it look like a apple! How kawaii is that?

As any Hello Kitty fan knows; Hello Kitty loves apples. Kitty’s favorite food is her Mama’s apple pie and here at Hello Kitty Cafe Ikebukuro; there are lots of apple treats that Kitty and her friends are sure to love. The apple plate comes with a grilled apple, strawberry whipped cream and layer of custard cream. This a wonderful dessert and sweet treat. It is quite a deal too for $11.50!

There are more lovely sweet treats at the cafe. One of the neatest treat is in a little pink cup! At first glance, it looks like a really cute coffee latte, but is actually a unique take on the English trifle cake. The cake is made into a cup with a Hello Kitty design. This dessert offered at $11.50 has blue curacao panna cotta sponge cake with strawberry sauce. There is a special touch with a Hello Kitty made out of marshmallows peeking out from a cloud of whipped cream.

To go along with the savory and sweet dishes, is an amazing tapioca drink! The tapioca drink here consists of pink strawberry yogurt, blue curacao yogurt, whipped cream and  a cherry on top. It is a lovely milk shaped special container with a label that has a Hello Kitty design. The label has Kitty surrounded by other cute and famous characters that are congratulating her on her 45th anniversary.
