Hello Corridor Flow!

Hello Corridor Flow!

October is Filipino American History Month and this month; I’ve been featuring various Filipino eateries on my Instagram: @hellofoodiejenn. One of my featured eateries is Corridor Flow. Corridor Flow is a Filipino owned coffee cafe in Lomita, California. Not only is it a cafe; they also have a mini plant store at the side. It’s a cute and comforting place to support small businesses all while getting a great cup of coffee.

One of my favorite items to get at Corridor Flow is their Chicken Salad Croissant. The Chicken Salad Croissant has cranberries, walnuts and celery. It is topped with organic arugula and is drizzled with lemon oil. The flavors all mix together to bring a flavorful croissant sandwich and I can definitely say it is one of the best!

My other favorite here consists of a Filipino staple; Arroz caldo. Arroz caldo is a Filipino porridge that is often enjoyed during the cold holiday season. It is a comforting soul and here at Corridor Flow; they have a great version. Their Arroz Caldo has chicken, saffron and ginger garnished with green onions. It is such a heart warming and savory porridge. I also love pairing this with their Ube Latte.

Corridor Flow is a great coffee cafe with Filipino inspired eats. It’s definitely an awesome place and perfect to visit this Filipino American History month!

Hello Kitty Foodie Year in Review 2021!

Hello Kitty Foodie Year in Review 2021!

2021 is about to wrap up and it was truly another quite unique year. With another year of the pandemic; restaurants needed our support more than ever. Looking back through this year; I’m happy to see several new spots open up and thrive this 2021! In this blog post; I share some of my new favorites in the South Bay.

The Standing Room Torrance

The Standing Room is a classic favorite in the South Bay. The original location located in a Redondo Beach liquor store continues to be a hot spot for locals and tourists alike. It was nice to see in the second year of the pandemic; The Standing Room opened up another location in Torrance, California. After closing down the one in Hermosa Beach; the Torrance location is a good sign that one can surpass difficulties that this pandemic has brought and succeed. The Torrance location is now 11 months strong and serving up many delicious eats such as their huge and tasty Napoleon burger.

You must come here hungry 😁.

Raising Canes Torrance

Raising Canes was another spot that showed they can rise up through the challenge of Covid! They opened up two locations in the South Bay this year; the first being the one in Torrance, California. The second is in Gardena, California. Now South Bayers can have fill and more of their crispy chicken tenders and Cane sauce. Yum!

Two Hands Torrance

Torrance definitely had an abundance good new eats this year! Two Hands Torrance opened up at the Torrance Crossroads this 2021 and I for one will never look at corn dogs the same way again! This place has the best Seoul Fresh Corn Dogs! Made fresh to order; one can enjoy corn dogs topped with unique toppings like rice puffs and Hot Cheetos powder. It’s different and delicious. 😋

Maru Kitchen

Another amazing Korean spot that opened up this year was Maru Kitchen. This place has some great bulgogi dishes. Their chicken bulgogi is a must try. Tender, moist and oh so tasty; it truly is a treat.

Gaya Korean Tofu and Grill Torrance

If one speaks of Korean food; one can’t forget soon tofu! I was thrilled to see Gaya Korean Tofu and Grill open up this year. They are my new favorite when it comes to Soon Tofu in the South Bay. The dumplings and beef is a heartwarming soup that is perfect for any soon tofu fan.

Prima Cafe

Speaking of favorites; many know I love boba! Prima Cafe that opened up in Lomita has some of the best boba in town. Their drinks also has a special nod to the South Bay via their names.

Presotea Torrance

Torrance was definitely popping with the boba places this year! (Popping 🤪 and boba…get it?) All jokes aside; this boba fan simply loved all the new spots opening up. Presotea is another new go/to place for me.

With teas made out of fresh tea leaves; their drinks are natural and flavorful!

Sprinkles Del Amo

I love supporting small businesses yes, I do. Yes, I do! If that tune sounds familiar; then it’s because it’s quite similar to the I love Sprinkles song that you’ll hear when you get a Sprinkles cupcake from their atm. I used to only dream about trying out their cupcake atm machine but with the new Sprinkles atm at Del Amo Fashion center; it became a reality! Sweet dreams do come true!

It’s not easy for new businesses to open up during a pandemic but the above places did and succeeded! I’m happy to see that and even happier to show my support. Please do check out the places above and show them some love too! Thank you for reading and as always thanks for the support of my blog. Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2022!

Hello Tasty Noodle House!

Hello Tasty Noodle House!

There’s a tasty new place that opened up late last year in Lomita, California and it’s no other than Tasty Noodle House. It’s a Shanghainese cuisine eatery that has several California branches. They have restaurants in Hacienda heights, Irvine, Cerritos, Chino Hills and San Diego.

Tasty Noodle House has quite an extensive menu and during my visit here, my initial thought was their menu was comparable to the size of Cheesecake Factory’s! (Insert Hello Kitty Foodie giggles here :D). Instead of pages and pages of entrees and cheesecake however, this place had pages and pages of delicious Shanhainese selections. 😉

One of the first noticeable items is their amazing line of up of various dumplings. Their dumpling menu ranges from different vegetarian, meat and seafood wontons to different wonton soups.

I first tried their Shangai Sticky Rice Shiu-Mai.

I’ve always been a fan of sticky rice at dim sum restaurants. I found this shiu-mai to be so interesting because it is a dumpling with sticky rice inside. It has a chewy dumpling skin on the outside and inside is the moist sticky rice. It’s a very unique take on sticky rice.

One of my favorite dumplings here is actually one of their soup offerings. I absolutely love their Shanghai Wonton Soup.

It’s a very heartwarming broth filled shitake mushrooms, veggies, wonton strips and ten soft luscious dumplings. The dumplings are generously filled with flavorful pork.

Speaking of pork, Tasty Noodle House has a very popular dish in their Shanghai Grilled Pork Bun.

The Shanghai Grilled Pork Buns is a absolutely wonderful! They’re huge in size and are filled with a nice amount of flavorful pork. I also like the touch of sesame seeds that they have on the buns.

Aside from different dumplings, they have various rice dishes. I tried their Yeung Chow Fried Rice.

This is a very fulfilling fried rice dish. It is packed with several ingredients such as shrimp, Chinese Sausage and veggies.

Last but definitely not least is their extensive noodle selection. After all this is Tasty Noodle House. 😉

One of the first noodles I tried was their Shanghai Style Chow Mein.

I liked how this dish had chicken and Chinese broccoli. It’s got your greens and protein. You can check off healthy eats with this one.

The other noodle dish I got to try was there Basil Beef Noodles.

The basil in this dish is very distinct and one will instantly taste the flavoring at first bite.

Tasty Noodle House definitely lives up to it’s name. It wasn’t just the noodles that was tasty but their dumplings, soup, fried rice and pork buns. Hmm perhaps their name of should’ve been Tasty Everything House. 😉 Overall a very tasty place. 🙂
