Imagine a place where every scoop of ice cream transports your taste buds to a different corner of the world. That is exactly what I experienced when I visited Wanderlust Creamery, a Filipino-owned ice cream haven in Southern California. Founded by Adrienne Borlongan and Jon-Patrick Lopez in 2015, Wanderlust Creamery is more than just an ice cream shop — it’s a passport to global flavors.
Adrienne Borlongan’s passion for ice cream runs deep. Her grandfather was a flavor chemist for Magnolia Ice Cream in the Philippines, and this connection to the iconic ice cream brand has inspired her journey into creating unique and globally-inspired flavors.
As someone who loves supporting Filipino-owned businesses and is a huge fan of ice cream, I was thrilled to stop by Wanderlust Creamery in Sawtelle. There, I indulged in the Tasting Trio — a delightful deal offering half scoops of three distinct flavors.

Sticky Rice + Mango
This flavor whisked me away to the vibrant streets of Thailand. Inspired by the traditional Thai dessert Khao Neoo Mamuang, it harmoniously blends creamy coconut-infused sticky rice with the luscious sweetness of ripe mangoes. As a mango lover, this was the flavor for me!
Pandan Tres Leches
A fusion masterpiece, this flavor marries the Latin American Tres Leches cake with the aromatic essence of pandan, a staple in Southeast Asian cuisine. I loved this moist, milky delight that had a unique, fragrant twist.
Ube Malted Crunch
Rooted in Filipino tradition, ube (purple yam) offers a mildly sweet, nutty flavor and vibrant hue. Combined with crunchy malted bits, this scoop provides both texture and taste, paying homage to Filipino dessert favorites. Being a big fan of ube, I really enjoyed this one!
Wanderlust Creamery’s commitment to authenticity and innovation shines through in their diverse menu. Each flavor truly felt like a love letter to its country of origin. From the rich, earthy notes of ube representing the Philippines to the tropical allure of Thailand’s mango sticky rice, every scoop was an invitation to explore. My taste buds were definitely on a world tour!
Wanderlust Creamery isn’t just serving ice cream; they’re curating experiences that celebrate cultural diversity and culinary artistry. I can’t wait to return and try more flavors on my next flavor-filled adventure!
